Speaker: Father Greg Boyle

While serving as pastor of Dolores Mission in Boyle Heights, Father Greg Boyle began what has become Homeboy Industries. In 1992, in response to L.A.’s civil unrest he launched Homeboy Bakery, with a mission to create an environment that provided training, work experience, and above all, the opportunity for rival gang members to work side by side, learning the mutual respect that comes from serving and building something together. Known affectionately as G-dog, Father Greg has been widely honored for his work and civic leadership.

An L.A. native, Father Greg was ordained a Jesuit priest in 1984. He has also served in Bolivia and Mexico. His Master of Divinity degree is from Weston School of Theology, and the Masters in Sacred Theology is from the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley, CA.
